Ashanti Shequoiya, also known by the name Ashanti was born October 13 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a musician, singer and actress of her native United States. Ashanti began her professional career in the teen years, and was eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. Ashanti was featured on The Fat Joe's What's Luv? Also, she was featured in Fat Joe's track"What's Luv!" and the Ja Rules' track Always On Time, both of which became huge hit songs. She became the first female artist to have the first and second spots in the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at the top spot and the track What's Luv? The song What's Luv! Tina Douglas was her mother and Ken Kaide Thomas Douglas before had a voice. The oldest of the three is the Kenashia Shia Douglas who is older sister. Douglas chose the name Ashanti to honor Ghana's Ashanti Empire, where women ruled and had an influence. Douglas wanted Ashanti to adopt this same model. The first album of her own that was released on the album of Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration was Ashanti's fourth studio album that was which was released on June 3, 2008. Hey Baby was released for radio and digital on the 16th of October, 2009. She was a part of the films Christmas in the City as in Army Wives.
